========= Announcement 1 ========== Date: Tue, 22 Aug 1995 14:49:58 -0700 (PDT) From: "K. Karl Shimada" Subject: 802.1 Interim meeting Sorry folks! It took alot longer than I wanted to find a hotel in the Denver area that could handle all of us! Here's the information that you need: Denver Marriott Tech Center 4900 S. Syracuse Street Denver, CO 80237 (303) 291-3637 Reservations are being held under the name IEEE (please mention this so that you get the correct room rate). Room rate is $115.85 per night and includes meeting room rental, breaks, audio/visual, etc. This hotel used to be called the Sheraton Denver Tech Center and is the same hotel where the July IEEE plenary in 1993 was held. A notable event at that plenary was the approval of two PARs for both 802.3u and 802.12. Rising Star Research will be hosting a social on the evening of Wednesday, October 11th and all attending along with spouses and significant others are welcome to attend. The Denver Marriott Tech Center is located about 25 miles from the new world class Denver International Airport. The airport is world-renowned for its automated baggage handling system that has been known to eat bags on occasion. However, this problem has been fixed by running the system at half-speed. There is one way out of the airport on Pena Boulevard. Pena Boulevard is the primary access road to the airport. From the car rental areas it is about 8 miles to Interstate 70. You want to take I70 to the West, towards Denver, however, you will be on I70 for a very brief ride. The next exit is for Interstate 225 which you want to take to the South which is the only way it goes. You will stay I225 for about 15 miles at which time you will want to take I25 South, towards Colorado Springs. Your will be able to see the hotel on the left side of I25. After getting onto I25 South you need to merge over to the right because you need to get off at the next exit, Belleview Avenue. You will be making a left turn onto Belleview Ave which means that you will be now going East. Stay in the left lane because after crossing under I25 you will be making a left turn at South Syracuse. The hotel is about two blocks down on the left side of the street. Bill will be sending out some more information on the meeting shortly. K. Karl Shimada ========== Announcement 2 ========== Date: Wed, 6 Sep 1995 16:24:31 -0700 (PDT) From: "K. Karl Shimada" Subject: Reservations for the 802.1 Interim I've heard from a few of you that have had problems contacting the hotel to make reservations for the October 11-13 802.1 Interim meeting. I have contacted the hotel with your problems and they have provided some additional help. The primary reservation number is (303) 291-3637. This line should be available between the hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm Mountain Time. This reservations number handles the three Marriotts in the Denver area. An alternate method to make reservations is to send your request by fax to (303) 770-6112 to the attention of Chris Lueck. She is at the hotel in the Denver Tech Center where will be meeting so this request would be going directly to the source. The last method, though not desirable because they do not have all of the meeting information is to call worldwide reservations at (800) 228-9290. Let me know if anyone has any more problems. K. Karl Shimada Rising Star Research (303) 274-6154 (303) 274-2044 - fax ============ Announcement 3 ============ Date: Tue, 19 Sep 1995 16:28:31 -0700 (PDT) From: "K. Karl Shimada" Subject: Reservations for the 802.1 Interim (fwd) I'm forwarding the information again to make reservations for the upcoming 802.1 interim. The deadline for making reservations is next Tuesday, September 26th. After that time rooms will only be available on a space available basis. I am also continuing to get complaints about the hotel reservation system. Denver reservations has finally figured out that they really do have a problem caused by our local telephone company, US West Communications. Here in Denver we like to call them US Worst or Useless West because they do tend to mess things up fairly regularly. There has also been some confusion about the room rates. The room rate that will show up on your hotel bill will be $115.85 per night. This includes fees for meeting space, audio visual equipment, etc. Please note that this rate also includes a Continental breakfast each morning of the meeting, 11th, 12th and 13th. This breakfast will be served in the meeting room. Check the meeting board for the IEEEE 802.1 meeting.
