Rules for 802.1 Voting Liaisons 802.1 accepts Voting Liaisons from other LMSC Working Groups, and expects reciprocal arrangements in cases where another Working Group conducts a ballot on material directly related to 802.1's scope. Appointment of the Voting Liaisons to 802.1, and counting of liaison votes, are governed by the following rules. 1. The Chair of each other LMSC Working Group is a Voting Liaison to 802.1. Other members of the LMSC Executive Committee, including TAG Chairs, are not Voting Liaisons unless appointed under Rule 2. 2. The Chair of each other LMSC Working Group may appoint a reasonable number of additional Voting Liaisons to 802.1. No disputes over "a reasonable number" are anticipated, but the Chair of 802.1 has discretion to apply to the LMSC Executive Committee for permission to set a limit. 3. Voting Liaisons may vote on 802.1 letter ballots, but not in 802.1 meetings unless invited, on a particular vote, by the meeting chair. 4. Liaison votes are not counted in determining the response rate on an 802.1 letter ballot. Up to two liaison votes from any particular LMSC Working Group are included in determining the approval rate. Liaison ballots indicating abstention are not counted for either purpose. 5. On an 802.1 ballot, if more than two liaison votes from the same Working Group are cast, only two of the votes are counted, selecting disapprovals in preference to approvals. All liaison comments are accepted for consideration and resolution. 6. Any vote cast by an individual with Voting Liaison privileges from multiple Working Groups is attributed to one of those Working Groups, selected in whatever way maximizes that vote's effect under the provisions of Rule 5. 7. If resolution of comments results in conversion of liaison votes, the approval rate is recalculated by applying rules 5 and 6 to the modified set of liaison votes. 8. If a Voting Member of 802.1 also holds Voting Liaison privileges, that member's vote is not counted as a liaison vote.
