At the same time, I understand and respect the opinion of those who believe that 802.10 should be looked at as part of the process. Maybe there is something here; I propose that we devote one day at the next meeting to this topic. It would be nice to see some co-operative work between 802 committtees. Keep in mind that I feel that a tie-in with security as things stand right now (eg, confidentiality and integrity) is not a good idea.. however I am open to hearing other opinions and suggesting changes. Whether both groups work together to come up with a co-operative standard, or one or the other does it, doesn't really matter to vendors or users: what matters is that 802 gets "VLAN" standardization done. I believe what some of the folks who are speaking up are driving at is that we DON'T want the process to take forever. When this happens, other solutions crop up and the standard becomes irrelevant (examples abound: CMIP, 802.1B, ...). Hence the proposals to focus on specific areas and speed things up. After all, the motivation for this comes primarily from customers - them that's always right. Regards, Anil
