This issue has not been considered in 802.3. To the best of my knowledge (and I have been at every 802.3 meeting for the past year and much more) this proposal has not been raised. I am quite sure that there is no open project within 802.3 that is considering such an action. I expect that a project may be opened soon to address issues of priority within Ethernet, including MAC Control (Flow Control) extensions to support throttling of low-priority frames. The use of the I/G bit for priority flagging could be done within such a project. If this is something that 802.1 would like to see happen, the "official" liasions between 802.3 and 802.1 are myself and Andy Luque.
