The problem (if there is one) manifests itself anytime one device maps a frame to a different VLAN than another VLAN device. The "default" VLAN is just a special case of this issue. I think that the discussion should separate into 1) the need/desire for a default VLAN and 2) the issue of inconsistent VLAN mappings and possible loops. Also, I am curious if we can come to closure in June on the other requests that I made. Specifically: - VLAN ID 0 is an invalid ID - never used. - VLAN Ethernet frame format is never less than 68 bytes (4 more than min Ethernet frame). Thanks - Steve -- Steve
