SC Goals

Project Scope

•      The SC provides a place for 802.11 to continue the work agreed to in the 802 EC 5G/IMT-2020 SC (ec-16/0119r1)

•      Coordinate and support an IMT-2020 proposal, external proposal (option B3) – 802.11 lead

•      Coordinate with and support 802.1 (lead) in meeting the actions towards “IEEE “5G” specification” (option A)

•      Report status to 802.11 on the activities of this committee.

Achievements

The main achievements of this meeting were

•      Completed the 802.11 draft reply LS (11-16/1510r3) to the LS from 3GPP RAN2 on estimated throughput (11-16-1384r0).  The draft LS was approved by 802.11 and was sent to RAN2 by the 802.11 Chair (R2-1700673)

•      Completed the 802.11 draft LS (11-16/1573r4) to 3GPP RAN Requesting Status and Information on Radio-Level Integration.  The draft LS was approved by 802.11 and was sent to RAN by the 802.11 Chair (RP-170026)

•      Discussed Industry Connections project - informative - no conclusions

•      Reply liaison to RAN2 draft created – still being discussed, not agreed, plan competition @ January meeting.

 Teleconferences

•      No Teleconferences were scheduled prior to the March 802.11 Plenary

•      Two meeting slots planned

•       Complete liaison statement to 3GPP SA to define/promote engagement

•      Straw Polled interest in new LS to 3GPP RAN and SA

•      Polls indicated some support: 8/0/19 and 7/0/14, respectively
