IEEE 802.11 WG Letter Ballot 188 (LB 188) passed with 90.6% yes votes.

About 850 comments were received on draft D3.0, almost 550 of them are technical.

    • A motion to procedd to working group letter ballot passed during the TG meetin (59/1/4). The same motion failed during the IEEE 802.11 WG closing plenary (33/12/9).
    • next opportunity to go to WG LB is on January 2012 during the Jacksonville meeting.
    • The IEEE 802.11 WG approved a TGac Ad Hoc meeting to be held in the Bay area on March 7-9, 2012. The purpose of the Ad Hc meetig is to advance work relted to TG activities.

          • Spectral Mask for Non-Contiguous 160 MHz Transmission;
          • Compressed V matrix feedback as the only feedback for SU and MU-MIMO, and the related VHT MIMO Control field;
          • 160 MHz Stream Parser,
          • LDP Coding; and
          • Enabling the beamformer to control the explicit feedback dimension for each user in MU-MIMO operation.
        • Coexistence:
          • RTS/CTS for Wider Channels; and
          • BW and Dynamic/Static operation indication.
        • MU-MIMO:
          • Frame Format for Group ID Management.

      • Motions passed to update the TG Specification Framework in areas related to:
        • MAC: AID Selection, DL MU-MIMO TXOP Sharing, A-MPDU Delimiter, Max MPDU/A-MPDU Sizes
        • Explicit Sounding, Phase rotation, Spectral mask, BCC coding rates, NDP sounding, 160 MHz transmission flow, support for channelization in China
        • Coexistence: Medium access for wider BW, 160 MHz channelization.
        • MU-MIMO: Sounding frame exchange protocol and formats, backoff procedure for MU-MIMO
      • The current approved revision of the specification Framework is 09/0992r15

        • Coexistence motions related to improved CCA, primary and secondary channels for 80 MHz, etc

      • A motion was passed to accept 09/992r2 as the starting point for TGac Specification Framework.
      • Motion passed to add Enterprise scenario with OBSS to the Functional Requirements and Evaluation Methodology document
      • Home scenario with OBSS was presented.

    The main achievements of this meeting were

      • A new revision of the TG Channel Models Addendum document was approved by the TG (09/0308r6)
        • Consensus on the AoD and AoA ranges and distributions
        • Need more work on Doppler model
      • A motion passed to accept document 09/0451r7 as the baseline document. Future enhancements to Enterprise simulation scenarios are expected.
      • TGaa presentation on progress related to OBSS issues
      • Proposals to introduce changes to the TG selection procedure. The discussion will continue during September meeting.

    The main achievements of this meeting were

    • Updated TG documents based on submissions.
      • Usage models: Submission 09/0161 describes Usage Models specific to TGac. The document is accepted as the TGac Usage Models baseline document
      • Functional Requirements: Submission 09/0071 presented a set of questions related to TGac functional requirement
      • Channel models: Two submissions on Channel Models (09/0088 and 09/0179) were presented. The two presentations agreed on the use of the 802.11n channel models for TGac and incorporate changes as needed
      • Process and Selection Procedure: Submission 09/0035r1 describes a proposed selection procedure
      • Specification Framework:Submission 09/0086 provided an initial straw man to stimulate discussion
