Re: [STDS-802-11-TGM] are you an "S1G expert"? -- Question for you.

Ah, now I remember!

Yes, if CID 235 is ACCEPTED then CID 105 can't be ACCEPTED, since

CID 235 deletes the row CID 105 is talking about.  However, the more

general point about whether things like Receive(D)TIMs are requirements

on the non-AP STA or requirements on the AP remains open, even if

CID 235 is ACCEPTED.  If we accept that point then the other locations

that describe Receive(D)TIMs (or the equivalent MIB attribute) have to

be reworded in the direction indicated in CID 105.  (If we don't

accept that point then the resolution to CID 105 can be just

REVISED: <do what it says for CID 235>.)

Copying Alfred, who has an interest in ReceiveTIMs.

Thanks,

Mark

Greetings,

During the TGm Call on Monday, we looked at CID 105:

There was some confusion on why it was tied to CID 235.

TGme CID 105:

Location: 6.3.2.2.2 - page 320 line 40 REVme D0.0

Comment:

A STA cannot be required to receive a Beacon frame. This parameter can only define when an AP will send Beacon frames with information intended to be received by the target STA.  Hence, this is an AP transmission requirement, not a receive requirement.

Proposed Change:

A STA cannot be required to receive a Beacon frame. This parameter can only define when an AP will send Beacon frames with information intended to be received by the target STA.  Hence, this is an AP transmission requirement, not a receive requirement.

Proposed Resolution: REJECTED (GEN: 2021-06-21 15:17:09Z) The cited text is being removed by CID 235.

AdHoc Notes:

GEN: 2021-07-27 12:54:47Z -

Note that this is a cautious rejection until we are sure CID 235 is validated for the deletion.
The row "ReceiveTIMs" is being deleted by CID 235. Hence the text to be edited by CID 105 is being deleted. We either Reject CID 235 or CID 105, but we cannot "Accept" both.

TGme CID 235:

Location: 6.3.2.2.2 - page 320 line 40 REVme D0.0

Comment:

If "This parameter is set to the boolean complement of dot11NonTIMModeActivated." then it doesn't need to be passed in the SAP, since the MLME can access the MIB itself.

Furthermore this parameter is not referred to anywhere.

Proposed Change:

"Delete the row at the referenced location (ReceiveTIMs), and delete ",ReceiveTIMs" at the start of the referenced subclause"

Proposed Resolution: Accept

During discussion, I was asked to send this to the reflector for Confirmation/Discussion.

Do you have any comments?

Jon

if so TGme CID 235 is suggesting
