I revised the slides I presented on Monday at the 802.1/802.11 bridging Study Group dialin about media choices for 802.11 bridging (point-to-point vs. emulated LAN). They now show that "hidden costs" are not a problem for the emulated LAN approach when using IS-IS-based bridging (though they still are a problem for spanning tree).
