[STDS-802-11] The 5 GHz Harmonized Standard for the EU

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Dear IEEE 802.18 and 802.11 Members:

Providing us with four days of margin instead of three, the EC published the June 2017 Official Journal of the European Union today with these entries:

The long awaited publication of the new version of the 5 GHz Harmonized Standard has occurred. With these two versions, and the associated note, the industry now has a means for self-declaration of equipment operating in these bands. The v2.1.1 alone will serve equipment that meets the new adaptivity requirements, and for equipment that still has a problem meeting the maximum channel occupancy time of note 2 in table 7 (NOTE 2: The maximum Channel Occupancy Time (COT) of 6 ms may be increased to 10 ms…), the journal includes the note allowing the use of the old adaptivity clause of v1.8.1.

ETSI BRAN will now begin the process of developing and approving both a v1.9.1, which is a revision of v1.8.1 with the inclusion of the Receiver Requirements clause from v2.1.1, and the next version (v2.2.1) which will revise receiver requirements based on requests from regulators to improve the adjacent channel rejection. The v1.9.1 will be completed later this year; v2.2.1 will take longer to complete.
