[STDS-802-11] Portential renaming (in effect) of MIB attribute for MultiBSSID capability

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

802.11WG folks:

As part of resolving a comment in REVmd (CID 1095, for anyone really interested), it has become apparent that the MultiBSSID capability in 802.11 has two MIB attributes: dot11MuiltiBSSIDImplemented and dot11MuiltiBSSIDActivated, and there is currently some confusion in the Standard about how these interrelate.

The current proposal is to help with the resolution of this comment, by first cleaning up these MIB definitions, per the conventions agreed by the WG in January (11-15/0355r13).  A result of this is that the attribute “dot11MultiBSSIDActivated” would be deleted from the Standard, in preference to use the dot11MultiBSSIDImplemented attribute instead.  It is likely that any external references (such as in-process amendments, other Standards, or proprietary implementations) to a MIB attribute for the MultiBSSID feature probably reference the “*Activated” attribute.

Hence, the question to the group: Is anybody aware of any in-process amendments (beyond 11ax, which is already known), external standards/specifications (Wi-Fi Alliance seems potentially likely) or existing implementations that would be impacted by such a change to reference this feature via dot11MultiBSSIDImplemented?  If so, please let me or Dorothy know, so we can consider/adjust the comment resolution appropriately.

Thanks!  Mark
