stds-802-16-tg1: Status of TG1 Draft 1

Here is Glen's report of the status of TG1 Draft 1 (IEEE
802.16.1/D1-2000). Obviously, the document is now fundamentally in
vastly better shape than before Session #10.5. We still have a lot of
holes to plug so we can start a WG Letter Ballot after Session #11.

================================================
This is the status of the current draft:

*	The file was generated to work with both Adobe Reader 3.2 and 4.0.

*	All figures display correctly. All cross-references work, allowing
for easy movement through the document using hyper-links. A complete,
six-level bookmark allows for fast access to any portion of the text.

*	Page numbering begins with 1 for the cover page and runs
continuously through the end of the document. This was done to allow easy
referencing of the document.

*	All action items are closed with the exception of those listed in
the accompanying Excel spreadsheet. The open items are: 1, 75, 76, 82, 125,
126, 147, 166, 176, 183, 244, 288, 343, 381, 382, 386, 398, 399, 427, 447,
568, and 576.

*	The document was re-organized per the outline generated at Session
10.5.

*	The PHY_SAP contribution from Session 10.5 was added to the
document.

*	Grammatical and spelling corrections were made when the technical
intent of the document was not changed.

*	Minor technical changes were made to allow the document to read
correctly. These changes were only made when a previously implemented action
item was not completely implemented. For example, the length of the EKS
field was shortened to 2 bits but the entire text was not changed. All such
modifications are highlighted with change bars.

*	Some TBDs still exist. A "List of TBDs" occurs at the front of the
document. It cross-references to the existing TBDs in the document using
hyper-links.

*	Some text is high-lighted in italics with a red color -- these
indicate editorial notes that require additional input. These are also
highlighted with change bars.

FrameMaker Source:

There are five files and one book that comprise the source. The following
was done to the source files:

*	All cross-reference errors were eliminated and/or corrected. This
includes hard-coded references that are now soft-links within the document.

*	All figures except 81 through 109 (Dynamic Services) are now in
Frame Format. Figures 81 through 109 are in WMF. All figures are embedded in
the document. This has reduced the file size down from 8 Mbytes to 3 Mbytes.

*	A reference page containing an SDL template was created that allows
for quick and consistent creation of the SDL diagrams.

*	The source now conforms as close as possible to the IEEE style
guide, with the exception of the front matter.
