stds-802-16-tg4: Call for input -Channel and interfence models

Dear colleagues,

I'm writing to encourage you to submit material on channel and interference
models. This is important for continuing the work on data encoding schemes.

The submissions may cover the issues of

a. propagation models
b. interference models

On the tg4 reflector, some related contributions were made. I will summarize
here very very briefly: (please excuse me for being so brief. my purpose
here is to stimulate more discussion. I'm taking only the relevant info
about interference models).

Octavian: Octavian maintains that interference are wide band (at least as
wideband as the 16b signal) and long in time. So basically it is seen an
increase in noise floor. Additionally, the degradation maybe from few dB to
a complete block of reception.

Jori: Jori also suggests considering narrow band interference such as
radars.
Jori can you suplly more info?

Demos: Warns about ineterfence caused by 802.16.4 devices on SAR-4 radars.

If I've missed anyone please tell me.

My personal view is to use a simple interference models which captures such
effects as described by Ocatvian. For the propagation models, i propose to
the models similar to those developed by 802.11a. They are simple to
simulate and analyze. These models use a single delay-spread parameter, so
they can be tuned to our outdoor applications.

Unless someone objects, or can supply additional information, I will try to
produce such models. Hope to do in a day or two.

Cheers,

Tal Kaitz
