Title: Availability of Final Comments for P802.17 D0.2

Availability of Final Comments for P802.17 D0.2
-----------------------------------------------

Dear IEEE 802.17 Working Group Member:

This e-mail is to advise you of the availability, for review, of the final
batch of 909 comments against the Draft P802.17/D0.2 document that was
posted on April 15, 2002. This batch also includes 211 comments that were
carried over unresolved from the comment resolution against Draft P802.17/D0.1,
for a total of 1120 unresolved comments. You may submit proposed resolutions
to any or all of the comments in this batch, until 12.00 PM (NOON) PST on
May 4, 2002. Note that you may not submit any new comments, however: the
comment period officially closed on Sunday, 28th April 2002. All properly
submitted comments, as well as your proposed resolutions to these comments,
will be dealt with during the May 2002 Interim meeting in Ottawa, Ontario.

A copy of the draft, the ballot/comment executable and the associated
Commentary Users Guide can be found on our password-protected website:

The draft is posted in Adobe "pdf" document format and can be viewed online,
or downloaded and printed. You will need a copy of Adobe's Acrobat Reader
(4.0 or higher) to view or print the draft. This software is available for
free downloading from Adobe at:
        http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html.
The draft prints out as 250 paper pages. It is copyrighted by the IEEE and
is for your review for balloting purposes only. It should not be copied or
otherwise distributed.

Note that several commenters have submitted additional files (in PDF and
PowerPoint form) for use in conjunction with their comments. These files
may also be downloaded from our password-protected website.

The ballot/comment executable, known as the Comment Resolution Database
or CRD, is designed for systems capable of running Windows or Macintosh
based programs. Please read the comment instructions (the Commentary User's
Guide) carefully.

The instructions for opening and viewing this final batch of comments may
be found in the sections "Updating the Comment Resolution Database" and
"Recirculation of Proposed Resolutions" on pages 5 and 22, respectively,
of the User's Guide. Instructions for entering proposed resolutions to any
of the comments therein may be found in the section "Proposing Resolutions
to Comments by Others" on page 18 of the User's Guide. Instructions for
submitting proposed resolutions to the Chief Editor can be found in the
section "Submitting Proposed Resolutions" on page 26 of the Commentary
User's Guide.

Please submit your proposed resolutions (i.e., the output of your comment
executable) electronically to Tom Alexander at:
        tom_alexander@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

NOTE:

According to the RPR Working Group ballot process, official ballots will only
be accepted from voting members of the 802.17 Working Group. The draft is also,
however, being circulated to those who have been participating in the
standardization process who are not members of the Working Group in order to
provide a wide review of the document and to solicit comments.

You should also be aware that Technical-Binding (TB) comments are not required
to be tracked amongst non-Working Group members. If a TB is entered by a person
who is not a Working Group member, and this person is not at attendance and
readily available at the interim meeting to review the Working Group's response,
we will not obligate the editors or staff of 802.17 to track down the commenter
and obtain the sign-off.

Best Regards,

Mike Takefman
