Reflector Information

The IEEE 802.17 email reflector is provided to the members of the Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) Working Group for the benefit of moving the standards work forward.

Use of this reflector is subject to the IEEE 802.17 RPR Working Group E-mail Reflector Policy.

If you ever need to get in contact with the owner of the list, if you have trouble subscribing/unsubscribing, or have questions, please send email to:

stds-802-17-request@listserv.ieee.org

To subscribe to the IEEE 802.17 Working Group reflector please send an email containing the following text in the body of the message:

subscribe stds-802-17 <yourfirstname> <yourlastname>
to
ListServ@ieee.org

Subscribe note 1: Use of the e-mail subscribe instruction requires that you supply your first name (given name) followed by your last name (family name) and will subscribe the e-mail address from which the e-mail is sourced. The e-mail subscribe instruction does not support an e-mail address field. If you try to use an e-mail address in the name fields, it will be rejected. If you wish to subscribe an e-mail address other than the one from which your e-mail is sourced (for example, the IEEE e-mail alias my.name@ieee.org), you will need to use the ListServ web interface. Use of this web interface will require the creation of a login. But once this login has been created it will be used for all IEEE ListServ subscriptions you wish to manage.

Subscribe note 2: Only subscribers to the reflector have the ability to post messages to the reflector. If you wish to have the ability to post from an alternative e-mail address in addition to the address you have subscribed with (for example, if you subscribe the IEEE alias my.name@ieee.org but want to be able to post from my.name@companyname.com), you will need to configure a post only e-mail address to the reflector.

To unsubscribe from the IEEE 802.17 Working Group reflector please send an email containing the following text in the body of the message:

unsubscribe stds-802-17 <yourfirstname> <yourlastname>
to
ListServ@ieee.org

Unsubscribe note 1: Use of the e-mail unsubscribe instruction requires that you supply your first name (given name) followed by your last name (family name) and will unsubscribe the e-mail address from which the e-mail is sourced. The e-mail unsubscribe instruction does not support an e-mail address field. If you try to use an e-mail address in the name fields, it will be rejected. If you wish to unsubscribe an e-mail address other than the one from which your e-mail is sourced(for example, the IEEE e-mail alias my.name@ieee.org), or a post only e-mail address, you will need to use the ListServ web interface.

Reflector Policy

The IEEE 802.17 reflector shall be used only for official business relating to IEEE 802.17 and its sub-groups. Technical discussions/questions, comments on presentations and documents, meeting announcements, etc., are acceptable uses of a reflector. Communications are expected to be respectful, dignified, and germane.

The IEEE 802.17 reflector is not a 'free speech' forum. Subscriptions are granted to further the purposes of IEEE 802.17 and may be revoked for inappropriate communications. These include, but are not limited to: recruiting, advertising, soliciting, spamming, flaming, whining, whinging, and disparaging individuals or companies.

IEEE 802.17 operates in an open manner. To that end, no material submitted to IEEE 802.17, or any of its sub-groups, will be accepted or considered if it contains any statement that places any burden on the recipient(s) with respect to confidentiality or copyright. Any communication, including electronic mail, containing language with such restrictive wording will not be accepted or considered.

Note - this policy regarding confidentiality and copyrights does not apply to IEEE copyrighted materials, such as draft standards.

In addition, the IEEE 802.17 reflector operates under the IEEE Acceptable Use Practices.

The chair of IEEE 802.17 shall enforce these policies.
