IEEE 802.20-03/09

Call for Contributions on Project 802.20

Session # 2 of IEEE 802.20 will be held from 12 May to 15 May 2003 in Dallas, TX. The scope of P802.20, as stated in the PAR, is:

Specification of physical and medium access control layers of an air interface for interoperable mobile broadband wireless access systems, operating in licensed bands below 3.5 GHz, optimized for IP-data transport, with peak data rates per user in excess of 1 Mbps. It supports various vehicular mobility classes up to 250 Km/h in a MAN environment and targets spectral efficiencies, sustained user data rates and numbers of active users that are all significantly higher than achieved by existing mobile systems.

To facilitate a common understanding and progress the work on MBWA, contributions on the following topics are solicited for the upcoming meeting:

  1. Workplan (please use the timeline in 802.20 - PD-04 as reference)
  2. Terminology
  3. Characteristics of MBWA Systems
  4. Evaluation criteria for MBWA systems
  5. Channel models for MBWA
  6. Data traffic models for MBWA
  7. Further contributions on basic elements of the MBWA air-interface

Please submit contributions to 802.20webmaster by 5pm EDT on 5 May, 2003 so that they can be posted on the web-site.
