RE: stds-80220-requirements: Handoff discussion

Sorry I was not privy to the discussions in Albuquerque. Was there a
discussion regarding actually defining two separate concepts (as the
implementation steps involved in executing each of them can be different):

Mobile Station originated handoff
Network originated handoff

¡§Active¡¨ and ¡§Idle¡¨ handoff can possibly be defined clearly if there is
a consensus on the above two terms.

Thank you.
Vinay

Subject: stds-80220-requirements: Handoff discussion

Form the discussion in Albuquerque here are the approved definitions:
Handoff - The act of switching the communications of a mobile station from
one cell (or sector) to another cell (or sector), or between radio channels
in the same cell (or sector).
ħ Intra-Technology Handoff
ƒÞ A handoff between two cells employing the same air interface
technology.
ħ Inter-Technology Handoff
ƒÞ A handoff between two cells employing different air interface
technologies (e.g. between 802.11 and 802.20 cells).
Need input on a definition for the following terms

ħ Active Handoff
ħ Idle Handoff
