The May 2009 IEEE 802 Wireless Interim Session will be held at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth,

located in Montreal, Quebec Canada during the week of May 10-15, 2009. The following IEEE 802

Working Groups will be participating: IEEE 802.11/.15/.18/.20/.21 and .22

This announcement contains the following information on the IEEE 802 Wireless Interim Session:

the following groups: IEEE 802.11, 802.15, 802.18, 802.20, 802.21 and 802.22.

 

REGISTRATION INFORMATION – (fees quoted below are in US Dollars)

The registration fee for this session is:

·         $575.00US(Early Web Reg) Before 6pm Pacific Time (PT) WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 2009, (UTC Time: 1am Thursday, April 2, 2009)

·         $850.00US(Late Web Reg) After 6pm Pacific Time (PT) April 1, 2009 and before 6pm Pacific Time (PT), FRIDAY MAY 1, 2009, (UTC Time: 1am Saturday, May 2, 2009),

·         $1150.00US(Onsite Reg) After 6pm Pacific Time (PT), FRIDAY MAY  1, 2009

If you are not able to register via the web for technical reasons, you must notify the

Meeting Planners prior to the cut off date, to receive the corresponding registration rate. 

Any individual who attends any part of a meeting that is a scheduled part of an

IEEE 802 Wireless Interim Session must register for the full session and pay the current registration fee.

Cancellation Policy            No Charge if cancelled prior to 6PM (EST) on your arrival date.

 

Deposits/Confirmation:

In order to confirm a room assignment for your room reservation, you will be required to provide the

hotel one (1) night’s deposit, refundable up to 6PM (ET) of your date of arrival. 

Checks and major credit cards are acceptable to establish prepaymentAll credit cards used to prepay will be charged immediately.

Early Departure Fee:

In the event you have registered with the hotel and decide to check out prior to your reserved checkout date,

the hotel will NOT add an early checkout fee to your individual hotel account.

Transportation to and from Montreal, Quebec Canada:

 

Getting to and from Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, you have a number of options:

 

(1)   Air Transportation to Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL).

(2)   Rail Services from Amtrack and VIA Rail arrive directly at the station within the session

 hotel from various departure points in Canada and the USA.

(3)   Montreal is easily accessible by car for attendees coming from the American states of New York,

 Vermont and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec.

 

Getting to and from the Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL), you have options:

 

TAXIS - can be found curb side on the Lower/Arrival Level near the central exit located in front of the cloakroom,

 where a dispatcher will assist you. No reservation is required.

 

  • All taxi and limousine operators working out of Montréal–Trudeau are required to have a permit and to comply with its terms and conditions.
  • Reduced mobility: A certain number of adapted taxis are available at Montréal–Trudeau. Ask the dispatcher.
  • Taxi fares: Fares by meter for all other destinations except downtown.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

 

Driving Directions from Montreal Trudeau International Airport

 

  • Take Hwy 20 East to Hwy Ville Marie (Hwy 720), which brings you downtown          
  • To Exit #3 rue Guy. At first light, turn right onto René-Lévesque Blvd. 
  • Continue for approx. 9 blocks  up to 900 René-Levesque, corner Mansfield. The hotel is located on the right hand side.      
  • Driving time is 20 to 25 minutes.

 

Driving Directions from Toronto

 

  • Take Hwy 401 East. Continue on 20 East /Est (becomes Hwy 720 East/Est)  to Autoroute Ville-Marie/Centre Ville          
  • To Exit #3 rue Guy. At first light, turn right onto René-Lévesque Blvd. 
  • Continue for approx. 9 blocks  up to 900 René-Levesque, corner Mansfield. The hotel is located on the right hand side. 

 

Driving Directions from Vermont

 

  • Take I-89 to the border. At the border I-89 becomes Hwy 133          
  • Follow Hwy 133 towards Montreal, until it turns to Hwy 35         
  • Continue toward Montreal and Hwy 35 will turn into Hwy 10          
  • Hwy 10 then will merge with Hwy 15         
  • Take Hwy 15 across the Champlain Bridge, then take Exit (Sortie) for Bonaventure/Centre-ville (Downtown). This will automatically become University Street         
  • Turn left on (rue) De La Gauchetière street, then right on (rue) Mansfield Street until you reach the hotel at Rene-Levesque Boulevard         

 

Driving Directions from New York

 

  • Take the I-87 North. After the border I-87 becomes Hwy 15 North          
  • Follow the signs for 10 West         
  • Exit right for Champlain Bridge / Autoroute Bonavanture, then take Exit (Sortie) for Bonaventure/Centre-Ville (Downtown).  This will automatically become University Street         
  • Turn left on (rue) De La Gauchetière street, then right on (rue) Mansfield Street until you reach the hotel at René-Lévesque Boulevard         
  • For valet parking, please use the side entrance on Mansfield.  For dropping off or picking up at the hotel main entrance, please proceed to front entrance on René-Lévesque Boulevard

Business people wishing to visit Canada require a TRV and should not be confused with people applying to come to Canada to work temporarily.  An example of a business visitor is someone who is coming to Canada to meet with representatives of companies doing business in China.  Visitors may be in Canada for business meetings or site visits.

All Russian nationals wishing to visit Canada for a temporary period must apply for a temporary resident visa (TRV).  A TRV is issued to a business person or a person transiting through Canada

Arriving in Canada

When you arrive in Canada, you will be greeted by an officer of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The CBSA is responsible for protecting the borders and points of entry to Canada. The CBSA officer will ask you the purpose of your visit and confirm that you meet the requirements for admission to Canada. This is standard for anyone entering Canada, whether you have a temporary resident visa or not.

 

You should have all relevant documents on hand to present to the officer when you arrive. These documents include, but are not limited to:

 

·         a valid passport or travel document that will be valid until the end of your stay

·         if applicable, a temporary resident visa
