[802.3_100GCU] Jan 2012 Interim - Agenda and Call for Presentations

Dear Task Force Participants,

The IEEE P802.3bj Task Force will be meeting at the IEEE 802.3 January 2012 Interim in Newport Beach, CA, USA.  The IEEE P802.3bj Task Force will be meeting on Thurs & Fri (Jan 26 – 27) with a hard stop on Friday at 5pm.  The Next Generation 100 Gb/s Optical Ethernet Study Group will be meeting on Tues & Wed (Jan 24 – 25).  Given the technical interaction between groups, Dan Dove, Chair of the Study Group, has agreed to place any material that is related to the two groups on Wed, Jan 24.  Materials in the IEEE P802.3bj Task Force related to both groups will be heard on Thursday, Jan 26.  However, please note that motions for the IEEE P802.3bj Task Force will be scheduled for Friday, Jan 27.

Registration and meeting details may be found at http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e4y9n3wia6bed54a&llr=bqlaqkgab. You are strongly encouraged to make your reservations as soon as possible.  Early Web Registration: before 5pm PST Wednesday January 4, 2012

The agenda for the meeting will be working towards the development of a baseline with emphasis on making decisions to move forward.  Therefore, presentations for the week should be focused on proposals for the baseline, As I have noted in previous emails to the reflector:

“Work on the standard doesn’t end with the meeting adjournment.  It is obvious that we will all need to do a lot of offline consensus building.  Given the limited amount of meeting time in January, priority will be given to multi-author presentations where offline consensus building is evident.”

Presentations should be kept to 20 minutes in duration, excluding time for questions and answers.  Requests for presentation time greater than 20 minutes will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and the requestor should contact the chair prior to making the request to justify the additional time.

Requests for presentation time must be made two Fridays preceding the meeting.  For the January Interim meeting, requests for presentation time shall be made to me at jdambrosia@xxxxxxxx  and must be made by Jan 13, 2012.  The presenter shall e-mail a PDF, soft-copy version of the presentation to me at jdambrosia@xxxxxxxx by Tuesday of the week preceding the meeting.  For the Nov Plenary, presentations must be submitted by Jan 17, 2012

As a reminder, please make sure that all requests for presentations or submissions of presentation material have no restrictive notices at the bottom of the email.  All such emails will be refused and requests / presentations will not be acknowledged.

All individuals submitting presentations should review the Procedures for Presenters Page - http://www.ieee802.org/3/bj/public/presentproc.html.

I would greatly appreciate presenters reviewing their own presentations to verify that they have followed the cited Presentation Style Guidelines.  Also, to support the web site search tool used by the IEEE P802.3 web site the 'Document Information' fields of the PDF file must be completed as follows:

Title: Title of presentation

Author: Name(s) of author(s)

Subject: IEEE P802.3bj 100 Gb/s Backplane and Copper Cable Task Force

As a reminder to the group, we are a contribution driven organization.   It should not be assumed by anyone that work will just get done without contributions to drive it.  Areas not moving forward will be brought to the attention of the Task Force for consideration on how to address.  .

I look forward to seeing everyone in Newport Beach!

Best Regards,

John D’Ambrosia
