[802.3_100GEL] Announcing an Extension of our D1.3 Comment Resolution Meeting Series

 Hello All –

Matt, Kent, and I sat down to understand the workload we have remaining on draft 1.3.  The conclusion we came to is that we’d like to see us address ALL of the on-time comments (not carry any over to the next cycle).  With that said, we have more work than we can accomplish in our 1 remaining meeting next week.  So to accomplish the goal of resolving all of the comments, we believe that we need an additional 4-6 hours beyond our announced meetings as the remaining comments are “meaty” and require floor time.  For this, I’m announcing another 2 meetings on November 24th and 25th, both 7-10am Pacific.

With that said, I ask this question to the task force… I recognize we all have lives outside of 3ck (home and work), so I ask for your feedback.  Which option would you prefer??

  1. Keep as is – 2 meetings on separate days - obviously we will try to be as succinct as possible and end early if we can
  2. Instead, do an “as long as it takes” meeting on Tuesday Nov. 24th  (remember we’re talking about 4-6 hours, with short breaks mixed in to stretch our legs)

If I see a significant body of participants that would prefer this alternative (B), I will adjust the meetings as such.

Thanks to you all!

 ~Beth

Subject: D1.3 Comment Resolution Series & Information

Dear Colleagues –

As promised on Wednesday’s Ad Hoc, this email is announcing the series for Draft 1.3 comment resolution.  We have our work cut out for us, but we are finding our stride in this virtual meeting world.  The goal will be again to close all of the 270+ comments received this round.  Kent and I will be hosting 9 meetings for this series, but Matt and ourselves will be actively working to reduce the meeting time.  Calendar invites to come next week.

We know it’s a lot of information, but please read through the overview below.

~Beth & Kent

P802.3ck Chair and Vice-Chair

Below are some key differences in comment resolution compared to our July series.

  • Meetings and deadlines will be split in two: big ticket discussions and regular comment resolution.  We’ll run the first two meetings much like ad hocs, however, we reserve the right to make decisions and close related comments.
  • We’ll plan to take a 5-10 coffee/bio break mid-way through the 3 hour meetings.
  • No “hallway discussion” time on Wednesday prior to the meeting – offline consensus building is highly recommended.
  • Priority may be given to filling in TBDs
