Re: [802.3_100GNGOPTX] Minutes Uploaded - Forward Direction

Just to make sure everyone has the information at had that I believe Chris is referring to:

Broad Market Potential
c) Balanced costs (LAN versus attached stations).

Economic Feasibility
a) Known cost factors, reliable data.
b) Reasonable cost for performance.
c) Consideration of installation costs.

I fully understand the concern John and Dan have in trending towards a price discussion. Part of that concern is that one person's price is another person's cost. IMHO, if one compares based upon their costs, not their ASPs, then one cannot be faulted for the relative cost data they provide.

IMHO, Ali did a good job of making a relative cost comparison between two optical modules, which I would consider part of the BMP and Economic Feasibility. It is pretty hard to consider a solution if you cannot consider what it might eventually look like or options you may have.

Cheers,
Brad

John

Can you explain the difference between the discussion of relative module costs in NG 100G OE SG, and the discussion of relative module costs in HSSG and 802.3ba including of specific form factors?

Dan,
Let me clear - do not include me on any discussions regarding price.
That is an inappropriate discussion and I do not want to be involved!

Seriously, folks;

I am going to officially ask that if you wish to talk about products and

their relative prices, please do it on a different discussion forum.
Maybe an email thread among friends?

We are here to talk about IEEE standards, PMDs, and their relative costs.
