[802.3_100GNGOPTX] May Interim Meeting - Call for Presentations & Agenda (First Reminder)

     Dear Study Group Participants,

The Next Generation 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s Optical Ethernet Study Group will be meeting at the IEEE 802.3 May 2012 Interim in Minneapolis, MN, USA.  The Study Group will be meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 15 - 16) from 8:30am to 5:30pm.  Registration and meeting details may be found at http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e5n54vrjf056442e&llr=bqlaqkgab. You are strongly encouraged to make your reservations as soon as possible.  Early Web Registration: Before 5pm PST Friday April 27, 2012.

At the March Plenary, the SG adopted a number of objectives, and our tasks for the May meeting include development of our PAR and 5 criteria responses related to our objectives.   I am working with the leadership of our SG to develop proposed wording and plan to distribute it via the reflector for review, comments, and to seek support. In addition to our PAR and 5C work, presentations that supplement the work we have already done to justify our objectives is desired.  The goal of the meeting will be to leave the May interim meeting with an approved PAR and set of 5 Criteria Responses so that we can pre-submit them to 802.3 and the SEC prior to the July meeting.

Presentations should be kept to 20 minutes in duration, excluding time for questions and answers.  Requests for presentation time greater than 20 minutes will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and the requester should contact the chair prior to making the request to justify the additional time.

Requests for presentation time must be made two Fridays preceding the meeting.  For the May Interim meeting, requests for presentation time shall be made no later than midnight PDT on May 4, 2012.  The presenter shall e-mail a PDF, soft-copy version of the presentation to me no later than midnight PDT on Tuesday  May 8, 2012

As a reminder, please make sure that all requests for presentations or submissions of presentation material have no restrictive notices at the bottom of the email.  All such emails will be refused and requests / presentations will not be acknowledged.

All individuals submitting presentations should review the Procedures for Presenters Page - http://www.ieee802.org/3/100GNGOPTX/public/presentproc.html.

I would greatly appreciate presenters reviewing their own presentations to verify that they have followed the cited Presentation Style Guidelines.  Please pay careful attention to the request to maintain a reasonable file size, avoid restrictive notices, excessive graphics and glitter, and avoid marketing pitches. We are a technical group making technology decisions.  Also, to support the web site search tool used by the IEEE P802.3 web site the 'Document Information' fields of the PDF file must be completed as follows:

Title: Title of presentation

Author: Name(s) of author(s)

Subject: IEEE P802.3 Next Generation 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s Optical Ethernet Study Group

As a reminder to the group, we are a contribution driven organization.   It should not be assumed by anyone that work will just get done without contributions to drive it.  Areas not moving forward will be brought to the attention of the Study Group for consideration on how to address.

Best Regards,

Dan Dove
