Hello Jonathan and all

Attached please find a presentation that I would like to bring to the MMF ad hoc.  Pages 3 through 11 address updating TDP for the removal of impairments due to chromatic dispersion from TDP resulting in a lower TDP max of ~ 4.08 dB (4.1 dB if two digits) and a new TDP filter of 16.21 GHz.

While preparing the TDP update, I looked at set of worst case transmitter for tradeoffs among the Tx attributes that are captured in the TDP measurement, examining the tradeoff made in the link model, e.g., between Tx output transition time and RIN12OMA and found that TDP does not yield the same tradeoff as the link model.  I eventually concluded that TDP is not a sufficient predictor of link margin and recommend a replacement metric.  This is covered in pages 12 through 18.

At this point, the presentation should be considered an early draft and more work is required.  However, I believe that we should give ourselves as much time a s possible to discuss the issue so please see the attachment for your consideration and comments.

Regards,

John
