[802.3_100GNGOPTX] IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Working Group E-mail Reflector Policy
All,
May I remind you yet again of the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Working Group E-mail Reflector Policy which can be found at the URL <http://www.ieee802.org/3/reflector_policy.html>, in particular the following excerpt:
----
Subscriptions are granted to further the purposes of IEEE 802.3 and may be revoked for inappropriate communications. These include, but are not limited to: recruiting, advertising, soliciting, spamming, flaming, whining, whinging and disparaging individuals or companies.
----
I would suggest, just as an example, that posting of the URL of a press release of a product announcement from particular company is, in my opinion, as close to advertising as it gets, and I would also caution against the use of press release to make a technical point. Alternatively, I would suggest that a technical presentation made by an individual, or even better, a number of individuals, describing an implementation of a particular technology, and it's features and benefits, such as its power consumption, is not only acceptable, but is encouraged.
Best regards,
David
