Re: [10GMMF] task 4 telecon & task1 followup

Title: Message
Per Y Sun's agenda, attached is a short example of modeling the light propagation in fibers using measured refractive index data for the mode delays (task 1) and the modal power distribution for offset launches (task 4).    The modeled result is compared to the DMD  measurement data.

As discussed in the task 1 teleconference, once the mode delays and mode power distribution are specified there tends to be strong agreement between modeling approaches.

Subject: [10GMMF] task 4 telecon

Dear Colleagues,

I'd like to propose a conference call for task 4 group (launching condition and modal filtering) on July 6 (Tuesday) at 12 am EST (9 am PST and 5pm UK).

The discussion will cover:

  1. what is needed in a channel model in order to do launch and filter modeling
  2. the launching conditions that we are going to concentrate on (center launch, offset launch, vortex, etc)
  3. review of previous work
  4. the general time line of this sub task group

I also like to invite who'd like to give a review of previous work or related issues to send me an abstract (or presentation).

Please contact me if the proposed schedule does not work for you. Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Yu
