[STDS-802-3-25G] P802.3 ballot reminder email

Dear Colleagues,

First of all, thank you to all that have submitted your ballot!

This is yet another friendly reminder that the IEEE P802.3by 25Gb/s Ethernet draft 2.0 specification is out for Working Group ballot. :) As David Law stated in the Working Group closing plenary meeting in July, reviewing a draft standard and submitting a ballot response is a requirement for retaining your IEEE 802.3 voter status.

In order to complete the Working Group ballot, the following response criteria (in addition to others outlined in Section 2.8.2 of the Operating Rules at http://ieee802.org/3/rules/P802_3_rules.pdf) must be met:
* The response rate must be >50%
* Approval rate must be >=75%
* Abstain rate must be <30%

As of this writing, the response requirement for P802.3by 25 Gb/s Ethernet has not yet been met. :( Another _50_ ballot responses are required to meet the requirement. Please take the time to review the draft and submit your ballot no later than Sunday 16th August 2015 23:59 AOE. Thank you!

See you in September!

-Kent

Subject: +++ 802.3 WG INITIAL BALLOT: IEEE P802.3by 25 Gb/s Ethernet D2.0 ballot

Dear Colleagues,

This is the announcement of the electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group Initial ballot on the amendment IEEE P802.3by 25 Gb/s Ethernet. Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status. Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow this announcement. The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Friday 17th July 2015.

BALLOT SCOPE:
As a Working Group initial ballot, the scope of the ballot is the complete IEEE P802.3by draft.

FIVE CRITERIA:
One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses which are available at <http://ieee802.org/3/by/P802_3by_CSD.pdf>. An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses.

BALLOT OPEN:
Saturday 18th July 2015

BALLOT CLOSE:
Sunday 16th August 2015 23:59 AOE

The Project Authorization Request for this Amendment is available at <http://ieee802.org/3/by/P802_3by_PAR_approved_121214.pdf> and includes the following:

TITLE:
Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Media Access Control Parameters, Physical Layers and Management Parameters for 25 Gb/s Operation

SCOPE OF PROJECT:
This amendment defines Ethernet Media Access Control (MAC) parameters, physical layer specifications, and management parameters for the transfer of Ethernet format frames at 25 Gb/s for server to switch interconnections

NEED FOR THE PROJECT:
There is a need for greater than 10 Gb/s Ethernet connectivity for server to switch connections. The availability of 25 Gb/s signaling technologies enables interconnect solutions for server to switch applications to be developed which are lower cost than existing 40 Gb/s Ethernet solutions

Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the draft.
