[802.3_400G] Jan 14 Interim Meeting - Agenda and Call for Presentations



All,

The IEEE 802.3 400 Gb/s Ethernet Study Group will be meeting at the IEEE 802.3 January Interim Meeting, which will  be held the week of Jan 20  in Indian Wells, CA, USA.  The Study Group will be meeting Monday and Tuesday ( Jan 20 – 21) with a 6pm finish on Tuesday.

 

Registration and meeting details may be found at https://tools.sympose.com/event/indianwells_2014/.  You are strongly encouraged to make your reservations as soon as possible. Please note per the webpage –

·         EARLY REGISTRATION FEE IS AVAILABLE UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2013 at 8pm EST

·         Hotel Sleeping Room Cut off Date is JANUARY 3, 2014 - please reserve your room prior to this date.

 

      Per the November Plenary, the adopted objectives of the Study Group may be found at http://www.ieee802.org/3/400GSG/project_docs/Objectives_13_1114.pdf.

 

As  As discussed at the end of the November meeting, with the adoption of these objectives,  it looks like our Study Group has defined our 400GbE project.  We must now focus our energy on completing our project documentation, i.e. PAR and CSD (which includes 5 Criteria).

 

Therefore, the agenda for the meeting will be the completion of project documentation for the 400GbE project.

       

Please note I recently forwarded a summary of presentations and how they address the BMP, Tech Feasibility, and Econ Feasibility criteria.  I noted in recent emails the need for various presentations.  You are encouraged to review these email at

Presentations addressing the topics in the noted areas in these emails, as well as the following areas, would be highly recommended:

o                                    Broad Market Potential

o                                     Economic Feasibility

o                                     Technical Feasibility

o                                     Distinct Identity

·                                                         Compatibility

Objectives for the Study Group

 

Note: presentations supporting a specific objective or proposed objective will be prioritized before presentations not supporting any objectives or proposed objectives.

In light of our new objectives, we will need to review this PAR to see if it needs any modifications.

 

Anyone wishing to present, please provide the following information (per Procedure for Presenters web page:

http://www.ieee802.org/3/400GSG/public/presentproc.html.  

 

Name of presenter

Title of presentation

Length of time requested (this should include time for questions and answers)

Brief description of topic

 

Presentations should be kept to 20minutes in duration, excluding time for questions and answers.  Requests for presentation time greater than 20 minutes will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and the requestor should contact the chair prior to making the request to justify the additional time.  Furthermore, I encourage individuals to use the Study Group reflector to reach out to others in the spirit of consensus building.  As chair, I will reserve the right to introduce individuals making similar topic requests in the continuing spirit of this encouragement.

 

Requests for presentation time must be made two Fridays preceding the meeting.  For the January Interim meeting, requests for presentation time shall be made to me at jdambrosia@xxxxxxxx  and must be made by January 10, 2014.  The presenter shall e-mail a PDF, soft-copy version of the presentation to me at jdambrosia@xxxxxxxx by Tuesday of the week preceding the meeting.  For the Jan Interim, presentations must be submitted by January 14, 2014. 

 

As a reminder, please make sure that all requests for presentations or submissions of presentation material have no restrictive notices at the bottom of the email.  All such emails will be refused and requests / presentations will not be acknowledged. 

 

All individuals submitting presentations should review the Procedures for Presenters Page   http://www.ieee802.org/3/400GSG/public/presentproc.html.

 

I would greatly appreciate presenters reviewing their own presentations to verify that they have followed the cited Presentation Style Guidelines.

 

Also, to support the web site search tool used by the IEEE P802.3 web site the 'Document Information' fields of the PDF file must be completed as follows:

As a reminder to the group, we are a contribution driven organization.   It should not be assumed by anyone that work will just get done without contributions to drive it.  Areas not moving forward will be brought to the attention of the Study Group for consideration on how to address.  .
