[STDS-802-3-400G] cole_3bs_02_0115 Q&A

A question was asked during cole_3bs_02_0115 Q&A, as to why in the TX spec. the OMA, each lane (min) is lower for 10km vs. 2km, since a higher value for 10km is preferable to support higher power budget.

The TX OMA, each lane (max) for both 2km and 10km is limited to 4dBm by the eye safety limit of total average power in 8 wavelengths. Because the 10km TX dynamic range is greater to support greater TDP, it results in lower 10km Launch Power in OMA – TDP, each lane (min) vs. 2km. The 2km and 10km OMA (min) delta is only 0.5dB, instead of 1.0dB TDP delta, by reducing the 10km OMA at TDP (max) dynamic rage by 0.5dB compared to 2km.
