[STDS-802-3-400G] 802.3bs Webpage Update

All,

The webpage was updated last night, including the agenda, which I want to comment on in preparation for next week.

·       End Time – as noted in Meeting Announcement – end time has been scheduled to be 3pm.  Consensus building and getting through our agenda quicker will help to improve this.

·       The plan is to jump right into hearing 200GbE proposals Wed afternoon, and to have a straw poll(s) that afternoon.  We have competing proposals for the 200GbE 10m objective – and a strawpoll will help the group understand where everyone is on this issue.  Consensus building will be key to solving this.

·       Motions for 200GbE baseline proposals are schedule to happen after the Friday morning break.

·       Paul Kolesar is proposing a liaison (Subject – “Liaison letter to TIA TR-42.13 requesting development of a standard for higher return loss MPO-16 plug and corresponding active device receptacle”) to be sent from 802.3.  Please take a moment to review this proposed liaison - http://www.ieee802.org/3/bs/public/16_05/kolesar_3bs_01_0516.pdf.  This is an update to the proposed letter that was uploaded in March, but not considered at that time.  If you have any feedback, please contact Paul prior to Thursday morning.  We will have limited time on Thursday morning to consider this letter and a motion to forward it to the 802.3WG for approval.  The Task Force is only meeting for 2 hrs Thursday morning before breaking into tracks and we have limited time to consider this topic, and have to deal with this matter prior to the 802.3WG Plenary on Thursday evening.

I wish everyone safe travels, and look forward to seeing all next week.

Regards,

John D’Ambrosia

Chair, IEEE P802.3bs 200GbE and 400GbE Task Force
