I suggest to check w/ experienced .3 editor(s) on this before going too far on this path.

Why?   1)  Any new style will be a comment magnet.  2) This issue may have been solved/agreed prior to this project.

 

e.g. I remember seeing only the lettered arrows (diff) from this suggestion, and Figure 1 and 2 would have been named Figure 1A and 1B â?¦

 

P.S. Suggest checking w/ Pete(r) A or David L. or other olâ?? 802.3 editors you prefer.

Hi Yair,

 

You make a good point. As it is we would not be alerted that there is an arc going into START_CXN_CHECK from another page.

Repeating the complete label however is very bulky and gives no extra information.

 

An empty label box however does the job nicely:

Does it mean that in a page that you use the complete state name as a labeled, in the destination state which will be on other page will be just a letter or there is no entry in the destination state or else?

 

I believe that for completeness and clarity, it will be help that we will have the same complete label name in the destination state when it is on different pages as well.

Hi folks,

 

As I redraw the state diagrams in Frame, I am sometimes forced to split them further up into small figures.

To avoid creating an indecipherable maze of one letter labels, I will use the following approach:

 

 

 

 

For labels that stay on the same page, one letter symbolic labels are used (eg. â??Nâ??) as for example in Figure 2.

 

For labels that have a state on a different page as the destination,

the full and exact label name will be put inside the label box (eg. START_CXN_CHECK in Figure 1).

Since the complete state name is used, it is not required to draw that label again at the destination state.
