[802.3_DMLT] FW: [802.1 - 10659] Preemption and MACsec

Since there are participants in IEEE 802.3br who have asked about this topic, I’m this message arising from MAC Sec discussions of the topic (and the similar topic of MAC Sec reordering over provider networks).

Subject: [802.1 - 10659] Preemption and MACsec

I have uploaded a revision of my prior note on the subject of preemption

and MACsec. This has been revised to take into account the discussion at

the 802.1 meeting in San Antonio earlier this month. It contains a fair

amount of detail on how to get the proposed multiple SCs solution to

work, covering both specification change and efficient/non-disruptive

implementation. As a reminder, the reason why we favoured this solution

to continuing to provide strict replay while some traffic classes

benefit from preemption is that it also applies to the use of provider

services. The document is at:

I plan to discuss this, or at least provide a quick introduction in our

schedule Security TG teleconference next week. Reminder below.
