[802.3_DMLT] FW: iet reflector: FW: +++ WG PREVIEW DRAFT: IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic

Dear IET colleagues,

The 802.3br V1.9 is on the private area of IET and IEEE 802.3 WG has been informed by David Law that I will ask the WG at the closing plenary for launching the IEEE 802.3br 1st WG ballot.

The joint tutorial of IEEE 802.1TSN / 802.3br is on the way to show in Berlin how good both projects interact to fulfill the overall requirements for a real time Ethernet approach along with the convergence requirement to keep/retain the previous best effort approach on the same link.

Mit freundlichen Gruessen / With best regards, Ludwig Winkel

Subject: [STDS-802-3] +++ WG PREVIEW DRAFT: IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic

Dear Colleagues,

This is the announcement of the availability of the preview draft, D1.9, of IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic.

During the upcoming March 2015 IEEE 802.3 Plenary, the IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic Task Force will meet to review this draft, and it is expected a request will be made to forward IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic draft (D1.9 plus any changes that might be made during the upcoming Plenary) to Working Group ballot at the IEEE 802.3 Closing Plenary. As required by the IEEE 802.3 Rules, any textual changes made to the draft during the Interspersing Express Traffic Task Force meeting will be presented for review during the IEEE 802.3 Closing Plenary prior to a vote for approval to go to Working Group ballot. Please review this draft so that you will be prepared to vote on a request to forward to Working Group ballot.

The title, scope, purpose and need for this project, from the PAR, are as follows:

TITLE:
Standard for Ethernet Amendment Specification and Management Parameters for Interspersing Express Traffic

SCOPE OF PROJECT:
The scope of this project is to specify additions to and appropriate modifications of IEEE Std 802.3 to add support for interspersing express traffic over a single physical link.

NEED FOR THE PROJECT:
Adoption of Ethernet into new market areas such as automotive, industrial automation, transportation (aircraft, railway and heavy trucks) has generated a need to converge low latency and best effort traffic streams. Currently this functionality requires multiple networks with parallel links.
