Dear Task Force Participants, Both the initial and 1st recirculation Working Group ballot of IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic failed to meet the abstention rate requirement of less than 30%. Based on this the IEEE 802.3 Working Group voted at its July
2015 plenary meeting to send the amendment IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic to initial ballot again.
With this e-mail, I'd therefore like to announce the start of the IEEE P802.3br/D2.2 Interspersing Express Traffic second initial Working Group ballot. Open date: Saturday 15th August 2015 Close date: Sunday 13th September 2015 23:59 AOE As stated in the attached announcement, the ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Friday 17th July 2015. All comments received before the close of ballot will be considered, the one limitation however
is that if you are not a member of the balloting group, and therefore cannot cast a ballot, you cannot designate comments as TR or ER since you cannot cast a Disapprove ballot. This is therefore announcement of the second electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group initial ballot on the amendment IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic. Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments
follow this announcement. Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status. As a second initial ballot the balloting group is reset and the balloting group for this ballot is the IEEE 802.3 voting
membership as of Friday 17th July 2015. BALLOT SCOPE: As a Working Group initial ballot, the scope of the ballot is the complete IEEE P802.3br draft. FIVE CRITERIA: One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses which are available at <http://ieee802.org/3/br/8023-DMLT-SG-1311-Winkel-5C_Approved.pdf>.
An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses. NEED FOR THE PROJECT: * Adoption of Ethernet into new market areas such as automotive, industrial automation, transportation (aircraft, railway and heavy trucks) has generated a need to converge low latency and best effort traffic streams. * Currently this functionality requires multiple networks with parallel links. * IEEE Std 802.3 currently does not have support for interspersed express traffic. * This project will allow the needs of IEEE P802.1Qbu to be met with a single physical link between bridges.
