[802.3_NGBASET] Call for Presentations

Study Group Participants,

We made a lot of progress at the last meeting of the Next Generation BASE-T Study Group in January in Phoenix.  We are on the agenda in the closing plenary in Orlando to consider our Objectives, 5C and PAR.  These need to be approved with a 75% vote by the 802.3, and later by the 802.3 Exec Committee (on Friday), after which NesCom and SASB will consider, and a Task Force can be formed.  Achieving the 75% cannot be taken for granted, please be sure to plan to stay until the close of the plenary on Thursday 3/21.

The plenary will be held the week of March 18th in Orlando.  Details are at http://802world.org/plenary/. Our Study group will meet on Tuesday March 19th and Wednesday March 20th.  We are soliciting materials that are consistent with the charter of the Study Group, which explore and/or refine the topics covered in our objectives, as well as any related content.  Once we achieve the status of being a Task Force we can begin to consider presentation which will lead to a baseline specification.

Comments from other organizations on our PAR and 5 Criteria are due by Tuesday of that week at 5pm, with our response due 24 hours later.  The SG will meet on Wednesday to consider and approve the responses to any questions we receive.

Requests for presentation time must be made before the second Friday preceding the meeting.  For the March Plenary meeting, requests for presentation time shall be made to me at billw@xxxxxxxxxxxx and must be made by midnight AOE on March 8, 2012.

The presenter shall e-mail a PDF, soft-copy version of the presentation to me at billw@xxxxxxxxxxxx by Tuesday of the week preceding the meeting.  For the March Plenary meeting, presentations must be submitted by midnight AOE on March 12, 2012.  Please copy our vice-chair, Dave Chalupsky (david.chalupsky@xxxxxxxxx) ,  on your requests and presentation submittal.

Please make sure that all requests for presentations or submissions of presentation material have no restrictive notices at the bottom of the email.  All such emails will be refused and requests / presentations will not be acknowledged.

For your presentation request, please include the following;

Title of Presentation

Abstract

Co-Author(s), Affiliation(s)

Please submit your file in .pdf format with the following file name convention:

Filename: presentername_nn_mmyy_ngbt.pdf

Where nn=01 for your first presentation and incremented for additional presentations by the same presenter.

If revisions are made after the file is posted, please indicate the new revision with an alpha suffix on the presentation number.  Example: “01a”

We would greatly appreciate presenters reviewing their own presentations to verify that they have followed the cited Presentation Style Guidelines.  Also, to support the web site search tool used by the IEEE P802.3 web site the 'Document Information' fields of the PDF file must be completed as follows:

As a reminder to the group, we are a contribution driven organization.   It should not be assumed by anyone that work will just get done without contributions to drive it.

Regards, Bill
