Re: [802.3_SCC18] proposed statement



Proposed comment to accompany the abstains of FR 8932, FR 8859 and FR 8790 in CMP3 and the approval of FR 7892 in CMP16:

IEEE could not reach consensus on this issue and therefore IEEE has no position on the matter of rated current versus nominal current.

The primary issue of contention is how to handle the variations of current across the multiple conductors in a multi-conductor power circuit.  This issue should be worked on and proposals submitted as public comments to the second revision.

 

Additionally, 802.3 would agree with flipping the abstains in CMP3 to approve with comment.
