[802.3_10SPE] AW: [802.3_10SPE] Power Class Proposal

Hi all,

My view on the future applications is:

  • Industrial: long length, medium power, more than 60°C
  • Premises: short length, medium power, thin cables
  • Special applications medium length , high power

And a lot of intermediate applications.

Therefore it seems more important to increase the number of loop resistances and decrease the number of voltages.

No proposal for Voltages but the proposal from Lennart Looks reasonable.

I would add a loop resistance of 45 Ohm, that would give an evenly distributed spread:

65, 45, 25, 9.5 Ohm.

Another issue related to  PoDL is the MDI max current of 2 Amp. The majority of the applications will use less than one Amp. Therefore it would be wise to have to classes one up to 1 Amp and one up to two amp. There will be no possibility of an error because the MDI is attached to the equipment, if high power use the 2 Amp. That could reduce the cost of the magnetics in the MDI.
