to highlight:
If you want to stay at the Hyatt Regency (where the meetings
will be held), don't be dismayed at the current sell-out situation.
Get yourself on the waiting list. We usually see about a
10% cancellation rate in the two weeks before the meeting,
so rooms will probably become available.
Second, if you haven't been to San Francisco recently, please
be aware that there is a brand spanking new BART (Bay Area
Rapid Transit) station at San Francisco International Airport.
Direct train service runs from the airport to the
Embarcadero BART station, which is about 1 block from the
Hyatt. The fare is $4.70 one way, and both of the trains that
operate from the airport stop at Embarcadero. You will probably
have no need for a rental car during the week, and parking and traffic
are terrible (and parking is terribly expensive). Take BART,
taxis, and the cable car (the world's only municipal roller coaster)
to get around town.

Airport Transportation: BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) now has a station at the
San Francisco International Airport(SFO). You can take BART from the airport to
the Embarcadero Station (1 block from the hotel) for $4.70 each way. To get to
the Embarcadero Station you will need to take the DUBLIN - PLEASANTON TRAIN
which leaves from the airport every 20 minutes. There are several different
trains and routes, so please make sure you get on the right one. For more

The downtown area of San Francisco is actually quite compact and almost
everything of interest is within walking distance. Since parking at the hotel
is $38.00 per day, we strongly recommend not using a rental car. Getting around
in San Francisco by public transportation is very easy and taxicabs are readily
available at most times. The California Street Cable Car departs just in front
of the Hyatt Regency SF (every 5-10 minutes).
The Hyatt Regency San Francisco at the Embarcadero is now completely SOLD OUT.
If you do not have reservations yet, you should call the Hotel directly at (415)
788-1234 and ask reservations to be put on the "IEEE802 Wait-List".
The IEEE 802 special rate at the Holiday Inn Finan$ial District is now
$139.00/night but some web deals are also available. There are still a limited
number of rooms available at the Holiday Inn and this is still a great deal, so
