Dear Colleagues,

This email is to update you on the results of the IEEE 802 Executive Committee meeting that took place on the afternoon of Friday 18th July, in summary all of the IEEE 802.3 agenda items were approved, further details on items are provided below.

Best regards,
  David

IEEE P802.3bw 1 Twisted Pair 100 Mb/s Ethernet PAR
--------------------------------------------------

Approval was given to forward the IEEE P802.3bw 1 Twisted Pair 100 Mb/s Ethernet PAR to NesCom. Based on this, since I had already pre-submitted the IEEE P802.3bw PAR to the August NesCom agenda, it will remain on the agenda. The IEEE-SA Standards Board will then consider approval of the PAR, based on the NesCom recommendation, the next day, Thursday 21st August. In addition an extension of the IEEE 802.3 1 Twisted Pair 100 Mb/s Ethernet Study Group was also approved, this however is only a contingency to allow it to meet in September should there be any issues with the PAR approval by the IEEE-SA Standards Board.

IEEE P802.3 (IEEE 802.3bx) Standard for Ethernet revision PAR
-------------------------------------------------------------

Approval was given to forward the IEEE P802.3 (IEEE 802.3bx) Standard for Ethernet revision PAR to NesCom. Based on this the IEEE 802.3bx PAR has been submitted to the Autumn NesCom continuous processing meeting taking place on Thursday 9th October. The IEEE-SA Standards Board will then consider approval of the PAR, based on the NesCom recommendation, by email ballot, a process that should take about two weeks to complete.

IEEE 802.3 Gigabit Ethernet Over Plastic Optical Fiber Study Group
------------------------------------------------------------------

An extension of the IEEE 802.3 Gigabit Ethernet Over Plastic Optical Fiber Study Group was approved.

IEEE 802.3 25 Gb/s operation over a single lane Study Group
-----------------------------------------------------------

Formation of the IEEE 802.3 25 Gb/s operation over a single lane Study Group was approved.
