Dear IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Working Group members, The ballot for P802.3bn closes at AOE tonight. I would like to thank those that have submitted ballot responses. However, we are still short by about 6 or so ballot responses of the minimum number of responses needed for a valid ballot. If you do have some last minute ability and you haven’t submitted a ballot response for P802.3bn as of this time, please consider submitting ASAP before tonight AOE.

Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is a requirement
to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status. Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow this announcement. The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Friday 17th July 2015. BALLOT SCOPE: As a Working Group initial ballot, the scope of the ballot is the complete IEEE P802.3bn draft. FIVE CRITERIA: One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses which are available at <http://ieee802.org/3/bn/5Criteria.pdf>.
An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses. SCOPE OF PROJECT: The project is to amend IEEE Std 802.3 to add physical layer specifications and management parameters for symmetric and/or asymmetric operation of up to 10 Gb/s on point-to-multipoint Radio Frequency (RF) distribution plants comprising
either amplified or passive coaxial media. It also extends the operation of Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (EPON) protocols, such as MultiPoint Control Protocol (MPCP) and Operation Administration and Management (OAM). NEED FOR THE PROJECT: The project is applicable to environments served with hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) networks. This project would allow the expansion of the addressable Ethernet market in the access space by running the EPON protocol over Coax. The project
enables service providers to offer EPON services over HFC networks, which currently can only be provided on a fiber network.
