[802.3_DIALOG] 25GE SMF Study Group Consensus Building Conference Calls and Face-to-Face in Atlanta

Dear Colleagues,

I have not seen an announcement yet, but the current thinking is that the 25GbE SMF SG will meet on the afternoon of Monday Jan 18th during the Atlanta interim meeting.  Please see http://802world.org/wireless/ for meeting registration and hotel information.

We have a web page set up for the SG at http://www.ieee802.org/3/25GSMF/index.html .   It is linked to the IEEE 802.3 home page.  At present there is not much information there but as we progress, documents will be uploaded to this site.

A new reflector has been requested and should become available in around a week.  I’ll send out a notice when we transition over to the new reflector.

Before the interim session I would like to hold a series of consensus building calls, as follows:

Definite:

Wed Dec 9th 2:00PM-4:00PM PDT

Follow-on as needed:

Wed Dec 16th 2:00PM-4:00PM PDT

Wed Jan 6th2:00PM-4:00PM PDT

Wed Jan 13th2:00PM-4:00PM PDT

We have reserved WebEx meeting facilities for all of these times and I will send out separate meeting notices as needed.  The first meeting notice should arrive in your inbox shortly after this email.

The main goals of the calls will be to reach consensus on the basic elements of the project documentation:  Objectives,  PAR and CSD responses.  It’s important to get this done now because we will be on a tight schedule in Atlanta, and would like to make the best use possible of the time.

One suggestion is that it would be helpful if someone could contribute data on installed base single-mode fiber reaches.

Thank you,

David Lewis
