Re: [802.3_EPOC] EPoC Weekly Working Group

Steve,

No plans so far for other clauses as far as I remember. This could very well
be an AI for the editors of individual clauses, once they get assigned, to
produce more detailed outline of what needs to go into what subclause.

Marek,

That makes sense to me. I think it is useful to have the description column
which is helpful in discussing the contents. I am not sure if you are
including such a description in other clauses.

Hesham, Steve

Since I am already submitting a larger outline proposal, do you want me to
include also this contribution in my package? It seems natural to include it
together with the larger outline, showing more details of the PMD clause.

Let me know what and how you want me to proceed.

Here is the current version of PHY outline document.

Ed Boyd suggested the following changes:

· Item 95.9 ?EEE Capability?: Change ?Energy efficient Ethernet. Do
we support this? Not supported in EPON.? TO ?Energy efficient Ethernet. Do
we support this here? EPON specifies it in SIEPON.?

· Item 95.3.7 ?PMD auto-negotiation function?: Change ?Need to
specify some form of initial communications and method to agree on rate.
TDD will need to auto-negotiate TDD parameters? TO ?Need to specify some
form of initial communications and method to agree on PHY parameters?.

The reasons are:

ü There are more parameters than rate (power, timing, modulation order,
spectrum, etc).

ü Ed does not see a reason to call out TDD since FDD has many additional
parameters as well.

Saif suggested to add a subclause to address the coexistence of EPoC and HFC
signals.

Comments are welcome!

Hesham
