Duane,

I used an approximation that 3 dB loss in SNR corresponds  to a loss of 1 bit in the constellation size (e.g. going down from QAM1024 to QAM512).
I used it in order to translate a loss in SNR due to residual ISI to a loss in bit rate (For example going down from QAM1024 to QAM512 is  ~ 10% loss in effective phy rate)

Avi,
I have a question about the tool you provided (I was in the TDD track when this was reviewed in PHX, my apologies if these are repeats from the meeting).
The "Loss in Bits" column; doe this represent a change in BER? If so this will translate into some loss of frames with some level of amplification. Have you considered this?
