Re: [HSSG] Additional HSSG Meeting During July 2007 IEEE 802 Plenary Week

Marcus / Steve,

While I understand and appreciate your viewpoint, the notice for the meeting does meet the 30 day notification requirement, as specified in “Operating Rules of IEEE Project 802 Working Group 802.3, CSMA/CD LANs.”

Steve, John,

I had the exact same thoughts when this email with the announcement
of this "interim meeting" was sent around. I had made travel plans long
time ago, including flight and hotel booking. I would like to participate
in the Monday morning meeting, if there is any, but I don't know whether
I will be available to find an earlier flight, change my ticket, and find another
hotel for that one night.

I find this short-term announcement of another important meeting
not acceptable.

John,

For myself, I received this email two days after booking my flight to arrive Monday morning in SFO and having booked the meeting hotel beginning from Monday night.

The information about this meeting session was not presented during the previous meeting in Geneva, and was not distributed until we had the information that the meeting hotel is now sold out, so even if I were to spend the money to change my flight, it is not certain that I could add Sunday night to my hotel booking.

There is a lot to do, so I certainly do not object to trying to use the 90 minute slot for informal discussions to try to figure out how to make progress. But I do have an objection to calling it an interim meeting of HSSG. I would request that you refrain from conducting any motions or straw polls as a part of this session so as not to exclude those who have already booked their travel from the decision process.

Regards,

Steve

All,

The HSSG will be having an interim meeting adjacent to and co-located with the IEEE 802 plenary meeting in July.  (Plenary information may be found at http://ieee802.facetoface-events.com/sessions/44/files/announcement.pdf).

We will be getting together Monday, July 16, 2007 from 9 to 10:30am prior to the July IEEE 802 opening plenary.  The agenda for the meeting will be to discuss the HSSG goals for the Plenary week HSSG meeting. At this time I have been informed that the meeting room will be Pacific Concourse JK, but it would be advisable to double check.

Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.

Best Regards,

John D’Ambrosia
