[802.3_MAINT] Helpful Info For the May Interim In Munich

Title:
Gentle People:

Some hopefully helpful thoughts for the May Interim:

1) The old Forum Hotel (Now Holiday Inn) located across
street from the Hilton is a whole lot lot lot cheaper that the Hilton.
HOLIDAY INN MUNICH CITY CENTRE
HOCHSTRASSE 3
MUNICH, GERMANY 81669
(49) 89/48030

2) Do take the German S-Bahn electric subway train
from the airport to the hotel(s). It can't be more
convenient! From the airport lobby you descend
via elevator or escalator directly into the subway
station. Take the S-Bahn directly to the Rosenheimer
Platz station which is located under the Hotels.
Take the elevator directly (almost) to the hotel
lobby's! Don't waste your money on a taxi this is
seriously cheap and easy. (These guys really did
this right.)

Train - Take the S-Bahn S8 train from Franz-Josef Strauss (MUC)
airport towards Munich. The cost is €8.80, either at the ticket machines
or the desk at the airport near the station entrance. The train station is
between Terminals 1 and 2. Trains run at least every 20 minutes and
the journey takes 35 minutes. Get off the train at the Rosenheimer Platz
station and follow the signs for the hotel, which is situated directly above
the station.

3) Do not miss the Museum of Science and Industry located 100 yards
down the street from the hotels:

They have a V2 Rocket!
They have a V3 Rocket!
They have a WW-1 Era Submarine!
They have a WW-2 Era Submarine!
They have a Mercury Space Capsule!
They have a Apollo Space Capsule!
They have a giant collection of antique aircraft

And tons and tons of other cool stuff all inside the museum!
And if you get bored they have an IMAX Theater!

Trust me folks this place goes on for acres so you should probably
plan for a day trip.
