Re: [802.3_MAINT] initial draft of P802.3.1 and other news

Is there an ASCII/Text version of the MIB module?
That will allow me (and others) to run some MIB-checker tools
against the MIB module.

Thanks, Bert

Dear Members of the IEEE 802.3 Maintenance Task Force,

I am pleased to announce the availability of the
initial draft of IEEE P802.3.1, Draft Standard for
Management Information Base (MIB) definitions for
Ethernet.  You may obtain a copy of the draft from
the following URL:

http://www.ieee802.org/3/be/private/802dot3dot1d0.pdf

The private directory is password protected.

The username is: XXXXXXX
The password is: YYYYYYY

We will be reviewing the draft at our upcoming
meeting on Monday, May 4th in Quebec. There are
still some structural issues with the draft that
we need to work out, but I think that the draft
will provide a good foundation for discussion. My
thanks to John Hawkins for his help in creating
this initial draft.

An email reflector for the IEEE 802.3.1 MIB task
force has been created, so that we will no longer
have to rely on the good graces and forbearance
of the maintenance task force.  The address of the
reflector is: stds-802-3-mib@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

More information about the reflector can be found
on the page:

http://www.ieee802.org/3/be/reflector.html

I look forward to seeing you in Quebec, at
the beautiful Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac
(the most photographed structure in the world!)

Howard Frazier
Chair, IEEE 802.3.1 MIB Task Force
