Dear all,

The most current edition of the IEEE 802 (R) Standards News Bulletin is now
available at:

Given the great interest in IEEE 802 standards activities, the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Association (IEEE-SA) has
created this news bulletin for the news media and other interested parties.
This issue covers Working Group activities during the IEEE 802 Plenary
Meeting from 9-14 March 2003 in Dallas, TX, USA.

Highlights in the News Bulletin include:
- IEEE 802(R)  Executive Committee Study Group on Handoff formed to
consider possibility of developing a standard specifying a common handoff
framework for 802 wired and wireless standards
- Approval of Project Authorization Request (PAR) to extend IEEE 802
Virtual LAN Bridging technology to support service provision
- IEEE P802.3af (TM) "DTE Power via the MDI" Goes to Sponsor Ballot
- IEEE 802.3 (TM) 10GBASE-T Study Group Underway
- IEEE P802.11g (TM) Completes Draft 7.0
- Wireless LANs Next Generation Standing Committee continued exploratory
discussions on new technologies and how other standards groups might
cooperate with IEEE 802.11 to bring about ubiquitous wireless networking
envisioned for the future
- 23 Proposals Presented to Task Group 802.15 3a (TM) for Alternate Higher
Rate PHY Baseline Standard
- IEEE 802.16a (TM)-Based System Profiles Advance in 802.16d (TM)
- Presentations Given on Channel Models, Data Traffic Models and the IEEE
802.20 (TM) PAR
