Re: [802SEC] Interpretation on whether or not a Letter of Intent is required for WG/TAG membership


To me, something optional means something that may or may not be
required.  It is not even clear from the text that it must consistently
applied, but I think that is the better and wiser way if the requirement
is imposed.

What is missing however is the purpose of the "letter of intent".  It
seems to me that the letter should both request membership AND commit to
fulfill the obligations of membership, like voting on letter/email ballots.
