Re: [802SEC] +++EC Email Ballot+++ENDS 25 SEPT+++Motion to approve expenditure for CD-ROM production

Bob, Both the 802 Logo (on the right side) and the vertical IEEE Logo (on the left side) are shown with "LAN/MAN Standards / 2004 Edition" at the top and "Networking the World tm" at the bottom. So it seems as though we need to do a whole new layout to make it conformant to the MB guidelines.

As to the suggestion of changing the year shown by -1, we actually had it that way when we started this program and we got so many complaints from folks saying that it looked like it was "Last Year's CD-ROM" that we chose to move it forward to be the year in which it was the current CD-ROM. No one except this gentleman has since suggested that the labeling was confusing. Everyone else seems to recognize that the 2005 Edition will contain all of the current standards approved up to Nov. 2004.

I have spoken with Karen and we will look at an actual CD-ROM from last
year to determine what logos are on the disc. I will ensure that any
use of the IEEE logo will conform with the branding guidelines.

Bob,
I may have misunderstood. I don't have a copy in front of me. As you
know
I'm in Berlin, so I can't get access to the actual copy. Is just the
IEEE802 logo on the CD or are there two independent logo's, 802 and
separate IEEE. I'm only concerned if there's the IEEE logo with the
diamond
shape insignia. That's the one we need to be sure meets the branding
guidelines.

I approve.

To respond to Roger's comment on the obsolete caption, I have asked Dawn
to check to see if we still have the original artwork and if she has
tome to modify it. If both are true, we will change the CD-ROM label to
remove the caption.

To respond to John's comment that we change the edition numbering
scheme, I would rather not. The CD-ROM is published at the end of a
year and is distributed long into the following year. Changing the
numbering of the edition, would be troublesome at this point.

Finally, to respond to Karen's request to use the IEEE logo, rather than
our own creation, I would like to hear more discussion.
