Re: [802SEC] REMINDER TO VOTE+++EC Email Ballot+++ Motion on The Atlanta Proposal+++ends 29 July 2005

Hi Ajay, I would really appreciate it if I could get more details on this reported incident. Was the incident reported to the police or to hotel security, who might have an incident report on file? Was there any overt act that clearly signalled hostile intentions? I would like to follow-up to see if there have been any other reported similar incidents and whether any suspect has since been apprehended. I would also like to be sure that we do have a bonafide incident, and not just a case of someone who read the Atlanta warning messages and then let their imagination get the better of them.

We all get a bit paranoid when we read such warning messages and that's good because it does keep us alert potential dangers, but it can also stimulate the imagination and create bogeymen in a sea of unfamiliar faces. My wife tells a story of being followed by a scuffy-looking man in New York City, and being so scared that she ran the last block to her hotel. She had the Hotel doorman intercept the individual and as it turns out she had dropped her wallet on the street and the man was merely trying to return it to her. Not to discount your report but sometimes incidents can be misperceptions. Some more details would certainly help to clarify the circumstances.

Thanx, Buzz

I vote approve for both dates based on Buzz's rationale for looking that far ahead (4/6 years) provided the following is changed appropriately:

"Extra concessions offered if deal(s) signed by 31 July 2001" to an appropriate date.

For the record, I would like to bring to the notice of EC that we had one reported safety issue during the March 2005, Atlanta Plenary, where one of our members was "followed" and "chased".

-ajay
