Re: [802SEC] Straw poll on membership

Colleagues, If I may harken back to yesteryear to find a possible compromise. When I first joined 802.5 in 1983 it was 75% attendance at 2 out of 3 plenaries to initially gain voting membership, but only 75% attendance at 2 out of 4 plenaries to retain voting membership. Perhaps that wasn't such a bad idea since it eliminates the possibility of membership jitter at a single session where you can gain membership and lose it at the same session. It may not help much with quorum management but I think we need a better approach to that anyway.

Thanx, Buzz

Mat,

The TAG voted unanimously against the change from a window of 4 plenaries to a window of 3 plenaries.

Matt:
The Straw Poll from 802.20 indicates a strong opposition to the proposed

change.
13 people favor a change to 2 of 3 plenaries
67 people favor no change and staying with 2 of 4 plenaries Regards, Jerry Upton In a message dated 11/15/2005 3:30:05 PM Central Standard Time,

The change from 2 of last 4 to 2 of last 3 plenaries is strongly opposed by the 802.3 working group attendees.
